How can I use my gift of sensing death to help others? Please help me.?
I know what you’re expecting, some eccentric girl who believes she has a so-called ’sixth sense’ but believe it or not, this is nothing like that. I am generally a skeptical person who has more faith in science and logic rather than something insubstantial like the paranormal. My family believes I possess some striking abilities, and one of these is the ‘gift’ to sense death.
And trust me, it isn’t what you think it is.
It comes out of the blue. Suddenly I feel this sense of restlessness, and that’s all it is at first. I hardly notice this first syndrome, because I am a normally restless person. Then, after that, comes this inability to sleep- I then soon after start losing my appetite (which is saying something because I eat anything in sight, thankfully I happen to metabolise things quickly lol). And after this, it could be days or a few weeks- I start having vivid nightmares about people being killed and death. Its always in this order.
A feeling of distress and helplessness then becomes so overwhelming that it cancels out any attempts at trying to follow my normal daily routines.
I’ve checked myself into multiple mental centers, thinking I was mentally unstable, but after numerous CT scans and other tests- even over night stays- I would always be released because there was nothing wrong with me. I’m still my normal self, but just with this distant feeling of desperation.
And then, sometimes without me even knowing it, the death will occur and I will wake up the day after feeling refreshed and back to my normal self. Nobody informs me that anyone is going to die, in fact, many times the deaths that I have predicted happened spontaneously.
I felt death before my friend Amanda was killed in a car crash. I found out that she died three months later- and the only reason I know that I felt it a few weeks before she died was because I wrote it all down in my diary, and the most shocking thing was that the day after she died, which was December 27th- I wrote in my diary, "Everything feels right again. Its like the world has been lifted off my chest and shoulders and an inner sense of peace has returned."
The problem is that I cant tell who its going to happen to. So, I feel like a complete weirdo, running around to whoever I feel is most likely to die- asking if they’re feeling suicidal, if they’re planning anything dangerous in the near future or if they feel like something is wrong or they feel depressed. And unfortunately, after a few months of peace…
I am feeling these symptoms once again and I cant ignore the fact that whenever I start feeling this way, somebody dies. And I wish I could know who it was so I could prevent them from dying, but that’s the issue. I cannot.
And I know how weird this all sounds, and trust me- I feel like I’m living in some kind of television show whenever this feeling hits me. Its surreal. I have no way to explain this, but for some reason, I can only feel the death of a person close to me. Thankfully I cannot sense death all around the world and with everyone- could you imagine how terrible that would be?
I was hoping somebody could explain this to me, if you ever heard of a mental disorder like this- that actually tricks you into being able to detect somebody’s death before it happens, or if it is somehow scientifically invalid…which I doubt. I believe that science can explain everything.
I just have no explanation behind many things that happen to me, particularly this apparent ‘gift’.
So far, I’ve sensed 12 deaths since I turned 16. And each time, somebody close to me turns up dead. And no I am not an absurd serial killer. I may not be the most stable person, but I would never be able to harm an animal much less a person- how cliche I know.
I just wish I could understand this more, so that I could possibly use it to prevent death.
Though I’m sure death is something that is supposed to happen, but because I feel it before it happens, there has to be a reason behind it all.
So please, help me.

And I said that I only sense this about people close to me. I don’t sense death with everyone, just people I know.
And the reason it took me three months to find out about Amanda’s death was because I stopped going to the same school and she and I grew apart and we stopped talking. I found out when I logged onto Myspace and found her name tagged in ‘RIP’ on people’s names. I was horrified. And the weirdest thing was that before she died, I kept having dreams of people being killed by cars- or me being hit by a drunk driver.
She was killed in a car accident, precisely two weeks after I started feeling the symptoms, and I started dreaming about the car accidents five days before her death.
So I hope I cleared that all up.
Sorry for the confusion, lol. I know what you must be thinking. I already know I think Im crazy. I cant begrudge you for agreeing with me.
It apparently took you 3 months to find out your ‘friend’ died. This couldn’t have been a very close friend. Are you sure you’re not just looking for deaths that correlate with the dates you picked? Millions of people die every day. How do you determine that’s who you sensed was going to die? How have you already lost 12 people close to you – or are you counting celebrities too? How about all the celebrities you didn’t hear about? Frankly, it just sounds like the confirmation effect – you’re looking for something to confirm your feelings, but you’re not applying a very rigorous protocol to it.

lets assume that you do "detect death"
you have 2 choices… simple ones infact
1.) learn to ignore it… decide its all in your head and the confirmation effect and ignore it
2.) develop your "talent" try writing down the dreams/ightmares you have as soon as you wake up, leave a pen/pencil beside your bed specifically for this purpose (and paper)
try to interpret your dreams perhaps you can discover a meaning, a marker… who knows
myself… i would take into account the fact that over 1 million people die… EVERY DAY
ever 4 seconds a child dies in africa from starvation or something like that… add in adults, the elderly, accidents, suicides, murders, the rest of the world… someone is bound to die every now and again
i would go see a therapist… something is clearly not right, im not calling you crazy, im saying… you need some help, knowing someone is going to die an hour before is usefull… feeling wierd as you described for "weeks" before hand and still not being able to stop it… that drivees people insane.

I suggest you try writing fiction. There is always a market for paranormal/horror stories. That would be the most productive use of your powers.

You and Amanda can’t have been all that close since you had grown apart and stopped talking – and since you use Amanda as an example rather than someone else I suggest that the other people that died weren’t all that close to you, or their deaths weren’t very close to the times that you felt these anxieties.
And like other people have pointed out there are lots of people in the world and there is always someone dieing that you may feel is connected to you in some way.
I think that you have got this idea and are now trying to find occurrences that fit with what you would like to believe.
No one has ever been able to accurately tell the future before so there’s no reason to think that it’s what you are doing now.
Anyway – I don’t think you’re crazy just mistaken.

Well Ashers,I am going to put my 2 cents in,I think that from what you have described that you could me an empath,you are very sensitive and can predict from your dreams,it you go on line and type this in the search bar,you will find quite a lot of information regarding this.I watch Psychic Kids on tv and it’s very interesting,a lot of them will have dreams as well,you can also type this name on line and read up on them,I hope this is of some help to you.You could be psychic as well,just my thoughts,Tomb Raider.

I have the same gift. The only difference is that, I always know who the person is because, I get quick flashes of them laying in a casket when they are in my presence.
One afternoon after school my friend Junior, and I were sitting on the porch holding hands and talking when suddenly I had a vision of him standing and talking with a group of his friends, when suddenly there were gunshots, and people running, he shook me and asked me what was I daydreaming about, Then I told him about my vision.
I begged and pleaded with him to be careful where he goes, what he does and whom he hangs around, because I sense danger, and I am ALWAYS right, he promised to take my advice.
A few weeks later, we while we were sitting close together, talking and holding hands as usual, I
had another vision, this time I saw a casket decorated with flowers, and he was inside of it, suddenly I felt my arm being pinched and he asked me what is on my mind.
With tears in my eyes, and my voice cracking, told him what I saw and I knew that, he had no intention on following my advice and that, he did not take my warning seriously. He told me that I worry too much and I’m just paranoid and that nothing is going to happen because no one has a reason to do anything to him or his friends.
Approximately one year later while standing outside of a house, where there was a party, some one in the passenger seat of a car, fired shots and Junior was struck with a stray bullet, he died immediately. I’m still trying to cope with losing him after all these years.
Having the ability to sense death is very difficult because, when you try to warn people, some never take you seriously, so your words basically fall upon deaf ears. But I’m not discouraged, I will continue to alert people whenever I sense illness or danger ahead.

I read the entire question carefully and without judgement…. and I’m not saying abilities like that do not exist, but I don’t understand why you think you have them.
The parameters are not clear. First you say "I only sense the deaths of those close to me" but you admit that you lost touch with Amanda for 3 months. That is NOT a close relationship to not speak for months when you’re not even angry with them….
That’s like me thinking that if I dream about money, then that day the stock market will go up. Well, the stock market goes up pretty much every day (because the economy is always growing) . Me dreaming about money, (and you dreaming about death) is more likely to mean that it’s a fixation…..not a prediction. There will always be people dying. Hundreds of thousands every day.
if just 1 drunk driving accident "prediction" destroys your ability to function for weeks, how come, for example, the Haiti earthquake didn’t even make a ripple on your radar? (I’m guessing it did not, or else you would’ve definitely mentioned it) 200,000 deaths would’ve given you a heart attack if just 1 puts you off-kilter.
So yeah. My money is on "Coincidence" and even "Emotional Defense Mechanism" on this one. No offense, you seem like a good person, very caring, and reasonably intelligent.
If in the meantime, you stumble on some really undeniable, specific, repeatable ability, I’ll reconsider the "Coincidence" hypothesis…….
…But it doesn’t seem that you’re anywhere close to that, lately.

I have similar experiences, There is not much that you can do if you don’t know who is in danger. Do not allow anyone to make you feel as though you are delusional, because these experiences are real.
I do not understand why people who do not have spiritual gifts or have never experienced the supernatural, are constantly in the paranormal section trying to insult the intelligence of people, whom they do not know and can not relate to, instead of just moving on, it’s like trying to read a newspaper in a foreign language or jumping into a game that, they do not know how to play or have never played and are trying to change the rules in order to make it comprehensible to them.
