Vanishing Point
|
IMDB rating: 7.20 Plot: Kowalski, works for a car delivery service. He takes delivery of a 1970 Dodge Challenger to take from Colorado to San Fransisco, California. Shortly after pickup, he takes a bet to get the car there in less than 15 hours. After a few run-ins with motorcycle cops and highway patrol they start a chase to bring him into custody. Along the way, Kowalski is guided by Supersoul – a blind DJ with a police radio scanner. Throw in lots of chase scenes, gay hitchhikers, a naked woman riding a motorbike, lots of Mopar and you’ve got a great cult hit from the early 70’s. |

The Dream of the Mirrors
My looking glass held the King of Wands
Mercury’s child, the setting sun,
his countenance wise, his eyes were dun
His walking staff made of palm fronds.
He pointed to a distant mirror
and in it’s face I saw much clearer
the stomping charge of angry hooves
the weight of histories on the move.
I saw saw the chalice and a lonely stair
Solemn duty’s nervous pace
and like a haunt about the place
A woman of years was standing there
Her face was veiled but shining eyes
alone revealed her silent sighs
Reflecting glass in her cupped palms
a millions wails she gazed down on.
She looked at me and at the man
who paced the floor in worry’s grip
She let the solemn mirror slip
It vanished from her open hand.
His eyes were fire, his temper cold
her disregard made him feel old
the suffering world cried on apace
despite the loss of pity’s gaze
He closed the book, removed the cup
another object there he placed,
his hat was ****** down towards his face;
against the wind his collar went up.
Amidst the scene another reflector
shone alone this nervous observer
clutching his pillow in a bible choke
The glass fogged over, and I awoke.
